Dr. Heather Lundy – Dr. Heather Lundy completed her 1500+ hour postdoctoral training under the supervision of Harvey Gayer, Ph.D. in both the local private practice and public school settings. Dr. Lundy provides play therapy with children and individual therapy with children, adolescents, and young adults as well as school-related consultation services for parents. Her areas of specialty include the treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders of childhood and adolescence, depression, anxiety, social skills training, and behavior modification as well as school-based academic and/or behavioral difficulties, Response to Intervention (RTI) Section 504 Plan consultation, knowledge of special education eligibility requirements, Individual Education Plan (IEP) consultation and development, school-based manifestation meetings, and knowledge of Georgia special education law particularly as it pertains to student and parent rights.
An Athens native, Dr. Lundy truly loves serving this community. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia. She then obtained her Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degrees in School Psychology from Georgia Southern University. Dr. Lundy was employed as a school psychologist with a local school system for 16 years during which time she obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in School Psychology from Georgia State University. Dr. Lundy became a licensed psychologist in 2014.
Dr. Lundy completed 2 full-time internships as part of her Ed.S. and Ph.D. training requirements. Both internships included experiences within the private practice and public school settings. Responsibilities included conducting psychological and psychoeducational evaluations, RTI consultation, Section 504 consultation, IEP consultation and development, and play therapy with children experiencing emotional and/or behavioral disorders. Dr. Lundy is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Georgia Association for Play Therapy (GAPT).
Dr. Lundy is a wife and mom. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and watching football.
