Dr. Harvey L. Gayer is a licensed psychologist and Director of Positive Outcomes Psychological Services, P.C., a group practice of licensed psychologists and psychiatrists he developed in 1998 in Athens, Ga after successful practice development in Valdosta, Ga.
Dr. Mary Elizabeth Trent completed her 2000 plus-hour postdoctoral fellowship training at the Georgia State University Counseling Center in Atlanta and was granted her Georgia license in clinical psychology. She provides individual psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults as well as family and couple therapy in Athens, Georgia. In addition, Dr. Trent facilitates a state certified family violence intervention program. Her clinical interests include intimate partner violence, disordered eating and body image concerns, trauma and abuse and women’s issues.
Dr. Eli Solomon is a licensed psychologist in the state of Georgia since 2004. He has been in private practice in Athens, Georgia for over ten years. Trained as a clinical psychology generalist, Dr. Solomon treats a wide variety of mental health issues, including depression, mood disorders, anxiety, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, disruptive behavior disorders, ADHD, and many other stress related conditions. He has training and experience in the clinical treatment and evaluation of children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Kate Avinger completed her 1500-plus hour postdoctoral training with Harvey Gayer, Ph.D. of Positive Outcomes Psychological Services in Athens, Georgia. Dr. Avinger provides play therapy for children and individual, group, and family therapy with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Her areas of specialty include the treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders of childhood and adolescence, trauma and childhood sexual abuse, coping with sexual minority status, family problems, depression, stress management, social skills training, behavior modification, and adjustment disorders. She celebrates diversity, and welcomes clients of various races, backgrounds, beliefs, and all walks of life. She also makes use of additional community resources to enhance treatment.
Dr. Bailey Joy Irvine provides neuropsychological, psychological, psychoeducational, and forensic assessment with children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of specialty include Neurodevelopmental Disorders (e.g., Intellectual Developmental Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and Learning Disorders), traumatic brain injury, pre-natal drug/alcohol exposure, emotional disorders, internalizing concerns, anxiety, behavioral difficulties, trauma, substance use, complex medical disorders, and neurological disorders. Dr. Irvine has been associated with Positive Outcomes Psychological Services since 2008. She obtained her fellowship there after completing more than two thousand hours of neurological and psychological assessments under the supervision of Harvey Gayer, Ph.D. and Eli Solomon, Psy.D. Dr. Irvine is contracted with the Department of Child and Family Services (DFCS) and works with the University of Georgia. She also has experience in conducting research with the concussion and epilepsy population.
Dr. Jaclyn Evans, PsyD, PC offers both individual therapy and psychological assessment. Assessment can be used to gain diagnostic clarity, evaluate for concerns like ADHD or autism, screen for learning challenges, track changes in functioning due to head injury or dementia, and more. For assessment, she sees clients 5 years and older. For individual therapy, she sees clients age 15 and older. She specializes in anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and coping with life changes. She also worked in university counseling centers for 3 years and is very familiar with the unique experiences and challenges college students face.
Dr. Heather Lundy completed her 1500+ hour postdoctoral training under the supervision of Harvey Gayer, Ph.D. in both the local private practice and public school settings. Dr. Lundy provides play therapy with children and individual therapy with children, adolescents, and young adults as well as school-related consultation services for parents. Her areas of specialty include the treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders of childhood and adolescence, depression, anxiety, social skills training, and behavior modification as well as school-based academic and/or behavioral difficulties, Response to Intervention (RTI) Section 504 Plan consultation, knowledge of special education eligibility requirements, Individual Education Plan (IEP) consultation and development, school-based manifestation meetings, and knowledge of Georgia special education law particularly as it pertains to student and parent rights.
Gina Defalco, L.C.S.W. is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Athens, Georgia. She earned her B.S. degree in Psychology from Georgia College & State University in 1992. She spent the next six years employed by the Department of Family & Children Services and Community Mental Health system while attending graduate school at the University.
